1. The Opening

1 – 5 – 7 – 1

Al-Fathiha ------The Opening

A key is usually intended to operate one specific lock or a small number of locks that are keyed alike, so each lock requires a unique key.

The key serves as a security token for access to the locked area; only persons having the correct key can open the lock and gain access.

Something that is a beginning.

Supplication to Allah for guidance taught by Allah Himself.

74. The One Enveloped

74 – Makkiyi – 4 – 56 – 2

Al-Muddassir------The One Enveloped

“The beginning of the Revelation that came to the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was good dreams; he never saw a dream but it came true like bright daylight. Then seclusion was made dear to him, and he used to go to the cave of Hiraa’ and worship there, which means that he went and devoted himself to worship for a number of nights before coming back to his family to collect more provisions, then he would go back again. Then he would go back to Khadeejah to collect more provisions.

(This went on) until the truth came to him suddenly when he was in the cave of Hiraa’. The angel came and said, ‘Read!’ The Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘I am not a reader.’ He said, Then he took hold of me and squeezed me until I could not bear it any more then he released me and said, ‘Read!’ I said, ‘I am not a reader.’ He took hold of me and squeezed me a second time until I could not bear it any more, then he released me and said, ‘Read!’ I said, ‘I am not a reader.’

He took hold of me and squeezed me a third time until I could not bear it any more, then he released me and said,
‘Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists).
He has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen.
He has taught man that which he knew not.’
[al-‘Alaq 96:1-5 – interpretation of the meaning]

Then the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went back with his heart beating wildly, until he came to Khadeejah and said, ‘Cover me! Cover me!’ They covered him till his fear went away. Then he said to Khadeejah, ‘O Khadeejah, I fear for myself,’ and he told her what had happened. Khadeejah said, ‘Nay, be of good cheer, for by Allaah, Allaah will never disgrace you. You uphold the ties of kinship, speak truthfully, help the poor and destitute, serve your guests generously and assist those who are stricken by calamity.’

Instructions to the Prophet for cleanliness and patience.
The Day of Judgment will be very difficult, especially for those
who deny Allah's revelations and oppose His cause.

Actions which lead to hellfire are: Not offering Salah, not
feeding the poor, wasting time in vain talk and denying
the Day of Judgment.

Damascus

Damascus

Damascus (Arabic: دمشق‎ / ALA-LC: Dimashq, Metropolitan Arabic: Dimisheʼ ), commonly known in Syria as ash-Sham (Arabic: الشام‎, ash-Shām) and nicknamed as the City of Jasmine (Arabic: مدينة الياسمين‎ / Madīnat al-Yāsmīn), is the capital and the second largest city of Syriaafter Aleppo. It borders Quneitra, Daraa and As-Suwayda to the south, Jordan to the east, Homs to the north, and Lebanon to the west. It is also the capital city of one of the country's 14 governorates. In addition to being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Damascus is a major cultural and religious center of the Levant. The city has an estimated population of 1,711,000 (2009 est.)

Located in southwestern Syria, Damascus is the center of a large metropolitan area of 2.6 million people (2004). Geographically embedded on the eastern foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range 80 kilometres (50 mi) inland from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean on a plateau 680 metres (2,230 ft) above sea-level, Damascus experiences a semi-arid climate due to the rain shadow effect. The Barada River flows through Damascus.

First settled in the 2nd millennium BC, it was chosen as the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate from 661 to 750. After the victory of theAbbasid dynasty, the seat of Islamic power was moved to Baghdad. Damascus saw a political decline throughout the Abbasid era, only to regain significant importance in the Ayyubid and Mamluk periods. During Ottoman rule, the city decayed completely while maintaining a certain cultural prestige. Today, it is the seat of the central government and all of the government ministries. Damascus was chosen as the2008 Arab Capital of Culture

In the second decade of the 21st century, Damascus was damaged from the ongoing Syrian civil war

The Syrian civil war,[59] also referred to as the Syrian uprising,[60] is an ongoing armed conflict in Syria between forces loyal to theBa'ath Party government and those seeking to oust it. The conflict began on 15 March 2011 with nationwide demonstrations as part of the wider protest movement known as the Arab Spring. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad, as well as the end to nearly five decades of Ba'ath Party rule.

The Arab Spring (Arabic: الثورات العربية‎, al-Thawrāt al-ʻArabiyyah) is a revolutionary wave of demonstrations, protests, and wars occurring in the Arab world that began on 18 December 2010.

73. The One wrapped in Garment

 73 – 3 – 20 – 2

Al-Muzammil------The One wrapped in Garment

Allah ordered the Prophet not to stand in prayer the whole night.
Those who oppose the Prophet will be treated with heavy
fetters and blazing fire.
The Qur'an is a reminder for those who seek to find the Right Way.

Read from the Qur'an as much as you easily can.
Whatever you spend in the way of Allah, you will find
it in the Hereafter.

68. The Pen

68 – 2 – 52 – 2

Al-Qalam------The Pen

pen is a device used to apply ink to a surface, usually paper, for writing or drawing.

Allah has declared Muhammad (pbuh) to be of the highest moral character.
Do not yield to any disbelieving oath-monger, slanderer
or wicked person.
What happened to the arrogant stingy owners of a garden who
did not want to pay charity?

Allah is not going to treat the Muslims as He will treat the
guilty. Why don't the disbelievers understand this?
Those who do not believe in Allah's revelations are led step
by step towards destruction.

96. The Clot

96 – 1 – 19 – 1

Al-Alaq------The Clot

"Does not man recall that We created him before when he was not anything?" (Surah Maryam: 67)

Recite: In the Name of your Lord Who created man from a blood clot. Recite: And your Lord is the Most Generous. (Surat al-‘Alaq: 1-3)

A zygote is the initial cell formed when two gamete cells are joined by means of sexual reproduction.

A zygote is always synthesized from the union of two gametes, and constitutes the first stage in a unique organism's development

Zygotes are usually produced by a fertilization event between two haploid cells—an ovum (female gamete) and a sperm cell (male gamete)—which combine to form the single diploid cell. Such zygotes contain DNA derived from both the parents, and this provides all the genetic information necessary to form a new individual.

Read in the name of Allah, Who created man and taught him by the pen.

Those who forbid from the worship of Allah will be
dragged to hell by their forelock.
