Nisa - women

1 Creation of mankind. 

Property of the orphans. Restrictions on number of wives. 

Obligation of dowry. Do not trust property to feebleminded people. 

Train the orphans to manage their properties. 

Laws of inheritance. 

2 Prescribed shares in inheritance. 

Inheritance of spouse's property. Commandment to abide by the limit of Allah. 

3 Initial order relating to the punishment for women guilty of fornication. Acceptable vs. Unacceptable repentance. Women should not be treated as a part of estate. 

Do not take dowry back from women. Prohibition from marrying the wife of one's father. 

4 Women that are prohibited for marriage - "Mahram" relations. 

Prohibited and permitted marriages -- continued. 

Permission for marriage with slave girls. 

5 Allah wishes to guide and forgive. 

Respect the ownership of one another's properties. Avoid heinous sins and do not be jealous. 

Laws of inheritance are fixed. 

6 Men are overseers over women.

Corrective measures for disobedient women.

Arbitration in family disputes. Huqûq-al-Ibâd (rights of other human beings). 

Witnesses of the Rasools on the Day of Judgment. 

7 Prohibition of drinking liquor - second order.

Tayammûm - a substitute for ablution. 

Behavior of the People of the Book. Invitation of Imân to the People of the Book.

Mushrikeen will not be forgiven. 

8 People of the Book tend to take side of Shaitân. Fate of the unbelievers. 

Fate of the believers

Who should the believers obey? 

9 Hypocrites' attitude towards the decision of the Prophet. 

One who disputes the decision of the Prophet is not a believer. 

Believers will be in excellent company in the Hereafter. 

10 Be prepared for armed conflict (Jihâd). Make Jihâd to help the oppressed. 

11 Fear Allah and not the people.

There is no escape from death. Obedience of the Rasool is in fact the obedience of Allah. 

Proof of the Qur'an being the Divine revelation.

Report the important news to responsible persons. Respond to greetings with even better greetings. 

12 Fight against hypocrisy and hypocrites. 

13 The punishment for killing a believer and laws of bloodwit. 

Investigate properly before jumping to conclusion. 

The ranks of Mujâhideen over the Non-Mujâhideen. 

14 Oppressed should migrate if possible.

Reward for migration in the cause of Allah. 

15 Salat-al-Qasr: Shortening of Salah during travel.

Salah in the state of war.

Salah is obligatory at its prescribed times. 

16 Establish justice based on Divine guidance.

Warning against Slander and against falsely charging

innocents. 

17 Allah's special favors to the Prophet. 

Prohibition of secret counsel and its limited exception. 

18 Shirk is an unforgivable sin.

Pledge and Promises of Shaitân. 

Promise of Allah - who can be truer than Allah in promise? 

No one is better than a Muslim. 

19 Establishment of justice for women. 

Have fear of Allah in your dealings. 

20 Stand firm for justice. 

The believers are required to believe wholeheartedly.

Boycott un-Islamic gatherings.

The hypocrites have double standards. 

21 Characteristics of hypocrites and the acts of hypocrisy.

The hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of hellfire. 

Do not utter evil words.

Do not draw a line between Allah and His Rasools in obedience. 

22 Jews are habitual sinners and violators of Allah's commandments.

Jesus was neither killed nor crucified. 

Punishing the Jews for their iniquities.

Their only salvation is to become Muslims. 

23 This Qur'an carries the same message as was sent to Noah,

Abraham, Moses and Jesus.

Al-Qur'an's authenticity is verified by Allah Himself. 

Believe in this authentic revelation if you want to attain felicity.

Stop saying "Trinity," Allah is the One and Only Deity. 

24 Jesus was a Prophet and worshipper of Allah. 

Mankind is asked to believe in the message of the Qur'an. Legal decision relating to the inheritance of childless persons.

Consolidation of the Islamic Community

The main object of this Surah is to teach the Muslims the ways that unite a people and make them firm and strong. Introductions for the stability of family, which is the nucleus of community have been given. Then they have been urged to prepare themselves for defence. Side byside with these, they have been taught the importance of the propagation of Islam. Above all, the importance of the highest moral character in the scheme of consolidation of the Community has been impressed.

1 Do not befriend those who are enemies of Allah and the Muslims. 

Ibrâheem and his companions are excellent examples for the believers.

Prayer of Ibrâheem and his companions. 

2 Exception to the prohibition of friendship with unbelievers who had neither

fought against the believers nor expelled them from their homes. 

As for women that become believers, test their Imân, and if you find them

truthful do not return them to their unbelieving husbands. Women's Bai‘ah (oath of allegiance). 

Do not befriend any with whom Allah is angry.

1 Fear Allah and do not obey the unbelievers and hypocrites. 

By word of mouth neither your wives become your mothers

nor adopted sons become your real sons. 

The Prophet's wives are the believers' mothers.

Blood relations have greater claims than others in the

Book of Allah. 

2 Favors of Allah during the battle of Trench. The attitude of the hypocrites during the battle of Trench. 

Those who discourage others from participating in the fight

against the unbelievers and don't participate in such a war

themselves have no faith and all their deeds will be void.

3 The life of Rasool Allah (Muhammad, pbuh) is the best

model for you. Allah helped the Muslims gain victory over the unbelievers

and the Jewish tribes in Madinah and Khaiber. 

4 Admonition to the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). 

Allah's order to the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). 

5 It is not fitting for believers to have an option in what has been

decided by Allah and His Rasool. 

Allah commanded the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to marry the

divorced wife of his adopted son Zaid.

Muhammad (pbuh) is not the father of any of your men

but a Rasool and Seal of the Prophethood. 

6 The Prophet is sent as a bearer of good news, a Warner and a

lamp spreading light. 

Divorce when no Iddat (waiting period for remarriage) is

required.

Special permission for the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

to marry more than four wives.

Restriction on the Prophet to marry or divorce one and

marry another after this commandment. 

7 Do not enter the houses of the Prophet without permission,

and if invited, do not seek long conversation.

Do not marry the Rasool's wives after his death.
Allah Himself and His angels send blessings on the Prophet,

O Believers invoke Allah's blessings for him. 

8 Commandment of Hijâb (dress code) for women. Punishment for the Hypocrites and scandal mongers. 

In Hell the unbelievers shall ask double punishment for their leaders. 

9 O Believers! Fear Allah and always say the right thing.

The heavens, earth and mountains refuse to take Allah's

Trust but Man took it.
